At Wellness Naturally, we are obsessed with herbs. Why this obsession you might ask? Well, herbs are not just fancy names or weeds in your backyard you have cut down or driven over. To us, herbs are what make life worth living.
You don't have to frequent an apothecary to love and enjoy herbs. Herbs are the things we all use daily, from onions and garlic to parsley and coriander. You see, herbs can be medicinal and prescribed in teas, tinctures, lotions, and potions, that is true, but herbs at their very basic are the many edibles things already on our plates.
When you think of the old adage, 'you are what you eat'; this could not be more true when thinking about herbs. The more you incorporate herbs of all kinds into your lifestyle, the more you come to appreciate how so many of these little herbs can impact our lives for the better.
From a cup of Chamomille tea at the end of a stressful day, to some fresh ginger tea to soothe a tummy after a big meal, herbs don't have to be complicated.
For some there may be a stigma attached to 'herbalists' or 'herbalism', to that, I say, 'meh'. The reality is, if you are alive today, you owe your very existence in large part to herbs. All our ancestors survived largely on plant-based existence. Yes, meat is wonderful, when it's available, but in our history, not everyone had access to fresh meat daily. So we ate plants, herbs, whatever our ancestors told us was edible.
We at Wellness Naturally are not vegans. We are not prescribing that you do or not consume meat. What we want to emphasize, is in a world of choice, as we have today, choosing to incorporate herbs of any kind for any reason, be it taste, wellness, or medically, learning more about herbs and their traditional uses will help guide you towards a greater understanding of what herbs already have done for us.
What you do with herbs from today onwards, is strictly your decision. Please consult a medical professional before attempting to diagnose or cure any illness. But what you can do with herbs in a non-medical capacity is wonderful.
Challenge yourself to drink a cup of herbal tea a day and be more herb-aware when shopping and cooking. In your local supermarket, you will find many fresh and dried herbs to use in your home every day.
Here is just a short list of things you can readily find anywhere:
Thyme, Cayenne, Garlic, Onion, Allspice, Cilantro, Fennel, Bay Leaf, just to name a few.
We proudly invite you to explore a whole world of herbs, some you know, some you may not, in our Herbal Index or just search for a herb, action, or use anytime on our homepage.
We hope you find our information useful in your journey towards herbal education.
